New Range
of british made shutters
Introducing the Basswood Range – Premium Shutters, Made in Britain
Our new Basswood Range combines everything we believe a window shutter should be: solid hardwood construction, a flawless hand-applied finish and the assurance that every panel has been crafted here in the UK, rather than shipped halfway around the world.
Unlike many shutters on the market, ours are all wood — no plastic louvres and no PVC frames. Basswood is the hardwood of choice for high-end shutters, and for good reason. It’s light enough to hang on tall windows without straining the frames, stable enough to hold its shape through years of British weather and takes paint beautifully, which is why our painted finishes look as crisp in year ten as they did on the day they were fitted.
It’s also the kinder choice for your home and the planet. Wood is a natural, renewable material. Our timber is responsibly sourced, and at the end of its long life, a basswood shutter biodegrades — it doesn’t sit in landfill for centuries the way a plastic alternative would.
Every shutter in this range is made to measure for your windows, finished in your choice of paint or woodstain (including bespoke colours matched to your décor), and backed by a ten-year warranty. Whether you’re dressing a Georgian bay, a 1930s semi, or a new-build in Morpeth, the Basswood Range gives you a shutter that’s built to last, made to fit, and looks beautiful!

The Installation
All our Shutters and Blinds are made to measure to ensure a perfect fit. Our fitters are very experienced in fitting all kinds of Shutters and Blinds, so you can be sure of a superb result every time.
Your Choice 1 – Painted or Woodstain Finish
We offer a range of paint and stain finishes, as well as a custom paint colour.
Your Choice 2 – Which Style?
We offer a range of shutter types to suit any window or door
Your Choice 3 – Slat Width
There are three slat widths, or a solid-panel style.
The most important component of a shutter is its louvres, or slats. It is the louvres that give you full control over light and privacy, as you adjust them throughout the day.
ShutterStyle offers various sizes: 64mm, 76mm and 89mm. The smallest size has more slats, whilst the biggest size has fewer, larger louvres and will subsequently allow more light into your room.

Your Choice 4 – With or Without a Tilt Rod
4 options…

Central Tilt Rod
A bar that sits centrally within the shutter panel, perfect for a classic shutter finish.

Offset Tilt Rod
A bar similar to that of the central tilt, but that sits to one side of the shutter panel.

Hidden Tilt Rod
A discreet bar that is placed on the back of the panel for a clean and tidy finish.

Easy Tilt Rod
A built-in tilt rod within the actual shutter frame – a popular choice for many homes.
FAQs
What is Basswood and why is it used for Shutters?
Basswood is a fine-grained hardwood prized by shutter makers for its light weight, dimensional stability, and exceptional paint finish. Heavier hardwoods can strain window frames over time, while softwoods are prone to warping. Basswood strikes the ideal balance — strong enough to last decades, light enough to hang on tall or wide windows without sagging.
Are your Shutters made in the UK?
Yes. Every shutter in our Basswood Range is built to order in Britain, not imported from the Far East. UK manufacture means tighter quality control, shorter lead times, and shutters built to British window sizes rather than adapted from overseas standards.
Are these Shutters fully wood, or do they contain plastic?
Fully wood. Our Basswood Range contains no PVC frames, no plastic louvres, and no synthetic fillers — unlike many cheaper shutters on the market. That means no microplastics shedding into your home, and a product that biodegrades naturally at the end of its life.
How long do Basswood Shutters last?
With proper care, a quality basswood shutter will last twenty years or more. Our Basswood Range comes with a ten-year warranty as standard, and the painted finishes are designed to remain crisp and chip-free throughout that period.
Do Basswood Shutters help with insulation?
Yes. Solid hardwood shutters add a meaningful layer of thermal insulation to your windows, reducing heat loss in winter and keeping rooms cooler in summer. They also help dampen outside noise — particularly useful for homes near busy roads.
Can I get a custom paint colour?
How are the Shutters fitted?
All our shutters are made to measure following an in-home survey, then installed by our own experienced fitters — we don’t subcontract. Most installations take a few hours per room, and we’ll leave everything tidy and ready to use the same day.
